About Me

Bismillahir rahmanir raheem. I begin with the name of Allah, the Most Beneficient, the Most Merciful.

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa brakaatuhu. May peace be upon you all, and the Mercy of Allah and His Infinite Blessings.

I’m Muslim, I’m a woman and I wear niqab. I’m also a wife, a mother to 2, a university graduate and now student again, and an Australian. This blog has been on the backburner of my mind for a few months, and the new year seems like a good time to start.

Of course, a better time would have been a few weeks ago when the new Islamic year, 1432 A.H. began, and even better than that would have been the first Friday of the Islamic year, but I didn’t get a chance to sit down on the computer for long enough.

So, a blog, to join a whole host of blogs already in existence. I’ve asked myself a few times whether I should go ahead with this, will people actually read it, has it been done before etc? I have trawled the net a couple of times looking for something similar to what I had in mind, and I haven’t yet found it.  As to whether people will read it, who knows? I get a certain enjoyment from typing out my thoughts, and I think some aspects of it, namely looking deeper into my own religion, will benefit me.

My intention is to show the beauty of my religion, to dismantle any stereotypes others may have of Muslim women, to increase in knowledge, and as with all other things, to draw closer to Allah and attain His Pleasure.

As my beloved Prophet, صلى الله عليه وسلم‎*, said, “Actions are but by intention and every man shall have only that which he intended.”

I should also mention that I am by no means a scholar, I’m just another member of the vast Ummah (community) of Muslims who loves her deen (religion) and would like to share it with others.

*You’ll see this quite frequently whenever my Prophet Muhammad is mentioned. It is pronounced sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam and means may Allah bless Him and grant Him peace. We say something similar after mentioning any of the Angels or Prophets, out of love and respect for them.
